Celebration of women in STEM https://robot.etf.bg.ac.rs/en-gb/celebration-of-women-in-stem-2.htm Thu, 12 Feb 2026 12:30:00 +0000 https://robot.etf.bg.ac.rs/?p=17630 We are proud to celebrate Anastasija Rakiฤ‡ and her inspiring interdisciplinary research at the intersection of robotics and anthropology. For us at ETF Robotics, women in STEM are not a one-day celebration. They are, and must become, the standard of the future. Marking the International Day of Women and Girls in STEM is important. But what matters even more is building systems that continuously support, mentor, and encourage girls from an early age to pursue engineering, science, and research careers. Real gender balance in STEM will not come from symbolic recognition, it will come from consistent opportunities, visible role models, and shared responsibility. We remain committed to strengthening that path through education, […]

From long hours in the ETF Robotics lab to upcoming work at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) within the euROBIN Brain Magnet Program, Nikolaโ€™s story reflects the path of a young engineer learning not only how to build better robots, but how to collaborate, adapt, and grow within a global research community. His experience shows that innovation is as much about people and shared learning as it is about algorithms and machines. Can you briefly introduce yourself and share a bit about your interests? In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends along the Danube River and tinkering in my home workshop on small projects. I also like playing Club Bridge, which I find to be a great way to relax while keeping my analytical and problem-solving skills sharp. Can you tell us about the topic of your research and what youโ€™ve been working on at ETF Robotics? My research focuses on advanced control methods for mobile manipulators, particularly in tasks that require safe physical interaction with the environment, such as assembly, cutting, or polishing. At ETF Robotics, we developed a state-of-the-art algorithm […]

For Nikola and Veljko, it wasnโ€™t only about sharpening technical skills. Summer schools like DRIMS2 are also about the friendships built over late-night conversations, the teamwork during exercises, and the small moments of connection that stay long after the program ends. We hope the knowledge they brought back, and the relationships they built, will continue to grow in the years ahead โ€” both for them personally and for the robotics community we are proud to be part of.
